Overview of the Programme

The Field Day for Cowpea seed production of variety VBN 4 was successfully organized under SST 451 – Commercial Seed Production as part of the Experiential Learning Programme (ELP). A total of 25 students actively participated in practical seed production activities, gaining hands-on experience and technical knowledge in commercial seed production.

Major Activities Conducted

The programme included:

  • Seed exhibition showcasing cowpea seed production practices
  • Farm visit to observe field-level seed production techniques
  • Distribution of pamphlets on cowpea seed production technologies
  • Sale of quality cowpea seeds to farmers and visitors

Learning Outcomes and Benefits

The event highlighted the practical learning achievements of students and enhanced their exposure to improved seed production technologies. More than 60 farmers benefited through technical guidance, knowledge sharing and access to quality seeds.
